This one is pretty close. Rath is pretty good when built up, but he needs his fair share of babying to get there. Vaida joins with decent bases late in the game, requiring no special treatment to be good. That said, she's not that good.

Rath gets my vote. Vaida might win on HHM where she gets an extra point of SPD and a little more ATK and DEF, but I'd say Rath clearly takes the other three modes. Rath takes a little babying to get going, but once he does, he's quite solid. His ATK is good due to high natural STR. He has long and close-range options after promotion, good MOV and particularly excells in forests. His supports increase his AVO, giving him above-average durability. He's got good support options in Lyn and Guy, so they won't be a problem with him.

Vaida is nothing more than a filler tank unit. Her offense is lack due to poor SPD, and she's totally fucked if magic comes her way. She also joins so late that supporting her with anyone is completely impractical. Her main advantage is her MOV. She's a solid filler unit, but nothing more. By the time she even joins, Rath will have become a good unit and have his supports on their way up. Plus he's the perfect candidate for boss abuse on Lundgren, which eliminates his biggest weakness.

It's a decently close match, but I believe Rath is clearly the better unit between the two.

Rath. Vaide literally has nothing on him except defense.

Vaida has DEF, MOV, flying ability, better weapons and good bases over Rath. I'd say Rath is better, but she certainly has more than her DEF over him.

Well, Rath is the most hated character to me, so Vaida obviously. HHM bonuses make her an excellent tanker.

I'm surprised Rath is winning so easily. No love for Vaida? She has one vote, and that was Salmon's, which is partly biased.

It seems odd how much non-love Vaida is getting. I mean, she gets HHM bonuses with good bases, and decent supports! I don't see why Rath would be better...

Rath is better because, when trained, he's a great late-game unit. Vaida really isn't that special. Her supports suck, because they're all slow. If she joined earlier in the game, she could get away with it, because they're not all ridiculously slow, but none of them are fast either. This makes it really hard for her to build supports. Her offense isn't that good because her SPD isn't high enough to let her double-attack a lot of things. Her good DEF isn't really as good as it looks, because units like Kent, Raven, Eliwood, Harken, etc. have her base matched because their supports are built up.

So really, all she offers is good DEF, which most everyone else already offers, only they all have much better offense than she does.

Rath for me. Although both have some flaws, I find that Rath can be better used in your team. He can easily rescue units with his movement and also gain the terrain benefits that Vaida does not get. Rath's ability to use bows let's him deal with Pegasi and Wyvern easily.

Vaida does make a great filler unit and is always nice to have in Chapters like Victory or Death to help deal with the onslaught of units.

Uh...Rath is ugly and definatly not sexy. I would of thought he would be a boss a first, with his appearance. Lyn, Guy, and Sue are cute, and Rutger is quite handsome, but the rest...are ugly and unsexy.
