So right, after FINALLY unzipping Hirano Aya's Asu no PRISM single, and looking at the scans that came with it (and nearly spitting out my water), and googling a few other names I liked, I came up with this topic.

Who is YOUR favorite/least favorite seiyuu/singer (they usually double as a singer, so. Prominent example being Nana Mizuki)? Why do you like/not like them? I also wonder which seiyuu you think is the 'best-looking' (the list is very short, so XP), male or female? So discuss them (reasons why you like them, with a few examples of their roles).

Oh, and, by 'dis 'em' I do not mean blatantly flame other people's views. There are tactful ways to state you hate someone. "ZOMG U SUK HARDCOR 4 LIKING DAT DUUUDDE/DUUUDDEETTEEE" is not one of them.

My personal favorite is most definitely Tanaka Rie. Call me a filthy fangirl but this woman is the definition of versatile (from Chi to Suigintou to that crazy chick in Mai-whatever it was). And she sings as well - pretty well in fact. Added to that she's a pretty good-looking woman. I've lately taken a shine to Kobayashi Yuu (Setsuna - Negima?!, Aka Loli - Saint October) too, though. I just love how relaxed she sounds. Kawasumi Ayako (Saber - FSN, Nodame - Nodame Cantabile) is fairly good, too, as well as a number of others I'm forgetting.

For male, Sakurai Takahiro (Cloud - FFVII, Kanda Yuu - D.Gray-Man); I just love this guy XD He sings really well, so I'm hoping D.Gray will release character singles and I can purchase the Kanda one *nod*. He's probably most famously known as Cloud, from FFVII. Another favorite I can think off the top of my head is Takehito Koyasu (Jade Curtiss - TotA, Mwu la Fllaga - GSEED), Midorikawa Hikaru (Heero - GWing, Leon Magnus/Judas - Tales of Destiny/2) and Miki Shin'nichirou (Urahara - Bleach, Assassin - FSN).

At the moment they're all I can think of. I'm not familiar with too many, as seiyuu-watching is something I've gotten into recently. But if anything has Tanaka Rie or Sakurai Takahiro, then I'm interested XD

My favorite female singer is Hirano Aya. Partly because I love her voice, but also because I don't know many singers at all emo-Feantho_lyon.gif. Plus, she sings in Saikyou Pare Parade, which is my favorite song right now.

Well, I don't spend too much time researching their backgrounds, I just pay attention to their voices.

Female:
Paku Romi (Ed from FMA, Hitsugaya from Bleach, Osaki Nana from Nana, Nicol from Gundam Seed) is pretty much the only female seiyuu I like. Her voice doesn't hurt my ears unlike all those really really high pitched voice actors. I can't see anything cute in that if my ears keep ringing, as much as I might like the character they voice.
However, there are exceptions. Tamura Yukari (Rika from Higurashi, Misha from Pita Ten, Mai from Kanon, Midori from Mai HiME/Otome) is a good example. Although her voice is really high (unless she does her deep voice), it's not annoying (okay, except for Nanoha maybe). Not to even mention her singing, the songs with slower pace are really nice.

Male:
Takahiro Sakurai, for the same reasons Mochi listed.
Katsuyuki Konishi (Soubi from Loveless, Amidamaru from Shaman King, Sergey from Mai Otome)... I swear, the fluffiest, fuzziest, warmest, most soothing male voice I've heard, ever, especially as Soubi. I haven't heard his singing, though.
Tomokazu Sugita (Kyon from Suzumiya Haruhi, Chrono from Nanoha StrikerS, Subaru from X, Hideki from Chobits)... No real reason. Just like. XD

Now... Dissin' time.
Nakahara Mai (Rena from Higurashi, Mai from Mai HiME/Otome, Karin from Kamichama Karin)... Or actually, it's her singing voice that I hate. Painful memories. :|
Ishida Akira (Chrno from Chrno Crusade, Satoshi from DN Angel, Athrun from Gundam Seed, Nagi from Mai HiME/Otome)... I just don't like it, I guess. It really annoys me, must be the L and R crossover that happens to him a lot. I know, it's very problematic for Japanese, however this is the worst case I've seen so far.
Mamiko Noto (Yakumo from School Rumble, Enma Ai from Jigoku Shoujo, Axela from Solty Rei, Yukino from Mai HiME/Otome) is one voice that almost makes me freak out every time I hear it... Her voice always sounds exactly the same. I value the ability to make your voice sound different according to the character you are voicing and as far as I've seen, she doesn't really possess that kind of ability. Maybe it's because I've heard her voice in too many anime shows. She's the cliche quiet/shy voice actor. :| Her singing is okay, but it's nothing impressive.

^Word on Mamiko Noto. She apparently has some huge fanbase, that I'm just not seeing a reason for their existence for >____> Her singing is really painful, actually. It'd be fine if it was like some creepy child song she sings in Jogoku Shoujo but... ow. Ow. Ow.
